Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed confidence ahead of Nigeria’s crucial Group C encounter against Tunisia at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco on Saturday night.

Nigeria and Tunisia will meet in a key Group C showdown at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, with both teams starting the match on three points from their opening fixtures. The Super Eagles edged Tanzania 2–1, while the Carthage Eagles secured a 3–1 victory over Uganda.

Speaking on the CAF website, Chelle acknowledged the quality of the Tunisians but insisted that Nigeria have the strength and character to overcome the Carthage Eagles.

“Tunisia are a big team with a strong playing identity and a solid World Cup qualifying campaign behind them. They play good football and started this tournament very well,” Chelle said.

“But we have a good team too, and we are improving with every match. There is no pressure on us; this tournament is an opportunity to correct what went wrong before and continue building our identity.”

Nigeria head into the clash unbeaten in their last seven AFCON group-stage matches and have scored in 13 of their last 14 games at the tournament, underlining their attacking consistency. Tunisia, meanwhile, are growing in confidence after a strong start to Morocco 2025.

The teams last met at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, where Tunisia edged Nigeria 1–0 in the Round of 16. Tunisia have also enjoyed recent success in second group-stage matches, winning three and drawing two of their last five.
