The National Basketball Association (NBA) has suspended Ajay Mitchell and Justin Champagnie for one game each following a fight that sparked an in-game melee.

The incident occurred with 27 seconds remaining in the second quarter of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 132-111 win over the Washington Wizards on Saturday.

The altercation quickly escalated, with players from both teams rushing in and the scuffle spilling into the seating area behind the basket before order was restored.

Mitchell and Champagnie were both ejected, along with Thunder players Jaylin Williams and Cason Wallace, for their roles in escalating the situation.

Williams was fined $50,000, while Wallace and Wizards forward Anthony Gill were each fined $35,000 by the league.

Mitchell will serve his suspension when the Thunder face the Philadelphia 76ers, while Champagnie will miss the Wizards’ clash against the New York Knicks.

The reigning champion Thunder remain in strong form with an 11-game winning streak and the league’s best record at 56-15. In contrast, the Wizards continue to struggle, sitting at 16-54 amid a 15-game losing run.
