African giants Simba SC, Raja Casablanca target Stanley Nwabali

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has reportedly become a primary target for Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC and Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca following his sudden departure from South African side Chippa United.

The 29-year-old is currently a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with the “Chilli Boys”.

Despite leaving without a new deal immediately in place, Nwabali’s status as one of the continent’s elite shot-stoppers has sparked interest in his signature among Africa’s biggest clubs.

End of His South African Stint

Nwabali’s exit brings an end to a successful four-year tenure in the South African Premier League. He joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and quickly established himself as one of the club’s most reliable performers in the South African top flight.

During his time in South Africa, Nwabali made 76 appearances across all competitions, racking up 25 clean sheets and earning a reputation for his reliability and commanding presence in the box.

The surge in interest from clubs like Simba and Raja Casablanca follows Nwabali’s stellar performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. He played a pivotal role in the Super Eagles’ campaign, helping Nigeria secure a third-place finish and further cementing his status as one of the best goalkeepers on the continent.

Patient for the Right Move

While the prospect of joining the heavyweights of Tanzania or Morocco is significant, Nwabali has indicated he is in no rush to sign the first offer that comes his way.

For both Simba SC and Raja Casablanca, landing a keeper of Nwabali’s quality on a free transfer would represent a major acquisition as they look to bolster their squads for continental competition.
