Adebola Duro-Aina, a student of Doregos Private Academy, Ipaja, Lagos, has been selected to become a member of National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) of United States of America (USA).

With her selection, the recipient has joined the league of over 950,000 members spread across over 160 countries of the world, enjoying benefits such as scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, membership-only resources, publications, participation in programmes offered by educational partners, personalised recognition items, and publicity honours.

Adebola was conferred with the honour in recognition of her intelligent, outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment.

Announcing the honour, Claes Nobel, NSHSS founder and chairman, said “on behalf of NHSS, I am honoured to recognise the hard work, sacrifice and commitment that Adebola has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence. Adebola is now a member of a unique community of scholars – a community that represents our very best hope for the future.”

Speaking on the achievement, Clementina Doregos, the proprietress of Doregos Private Academy, stated that Adebola is one of the best brains Nigeria has to offer the world, stating that education remains the best legacy any nation can bequeath to its younger generations.

She explained that the school has always encouraged its students to be the best they can in order to rub shoulders with the best across the globe without being intimidated and called on parents to be more committed to the education of their children.

The recipient, Adebola, said she was elated to have been selected for the honour, stressing that she feels proud being Nigerian.

Founded in 2002, the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) recognises academic excellence at the high school level and encourages members of the organisations to apply their unique talents, vision, and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world.

It also provides scholarship opportunities for deserving young people. Since inception, NSHSS has awarded more than $2million in tuition and programme scholarship. The society has its international headquarters in Atlanta, United States of America.
