These days more and more compnies are hiring people who want to be sales/marketing Executives. One thing is being hired as a sales person/ marketer and another thing is to be efficient.
Why do most sales persons and marketers feel sad when rejected? What should be their frame of mind when there is no patronage? Does being rejected means you are incompetent or useless?
Being a sales person or marketer is one of those job positons where those involved need to see themselves as exceptional workers, doing the usual things differently.
The end result of a sales person/marketer is to exchange his/her goods for money instantly as he/she talks to people. Does this always happen? NO! Infact it could get worse where the sales person’s self esteem and confidence is being trashed as he/she tries to talk about his/her goods.
Now narrowing this down to women in this area of job position, most women have decided to sell everything when selling and marketing thinking this would make their job easy and attract more patronage.
If you are networking which is one avenue of making sales, there are areas of your personality which you should concenterate more to enable you make sales. Do not think that because you are a woman, painting your face, wearing sexy clothings and putting on the best brazillian and indian hair is the catch…..they are not. Such money could be used for your call cards. All you are looking for when you package yourself in such manner is the wrong kind of patrons and when they approach you, you might not want to be a sales person any longer( assume you value your self dignity and womanhood).
Physical appearance matters because that is the first thing the person you approach will notice but do not over do yourself here. Keep it minimal and do more grooming on what comes out of your mouth. A prospective buyer could be attracted by your appearance and the first 5-10mins matters hugely if you are going to convince her/him or not. If during your introduction of who you are and what you are selling, you do not hit the nail on the head, the buyer will lose interest. So it is vital you prepare your self very well especially your internal self before making any marketing moves. Your self confidence, eloquency, understanding of what you are selling plays a huge role in convincing your buyer. There are marketers who do not have any atom of self confidence and when you approach people to talk about your products and services, you are stammering, shaking all over and even breaking a sweat on your face/armpit, you have lost it totally. When talking to people as a sales person, you must be in total control. Remember, that the person you are talking to is bursting with curiosity/questions about you and what you are selling and if you are not confident with yourself, you cannot answer any question correctly.
The people that make this mistakes often are always those in the MLM marketing system. Do not make the mistake of trying to recruit team members/sell your products without first taking time to study the system of the marketing company you represent. I have siad this several times here and will keep saying it because it is very vital if you want to attract patronage and sign in new affiliates faster to join your marketing network. Study each product you want to talk about and understand how they work/ benefits. You cannot introduce a product to a buyer without explaining fully how the products works and what the buyer tend to benefit.
Again, coming to your MLM compensation plan, you should be able to explain to people you want to sign on the process of payment awaiting them. Most MLM payment plans are not straight foward and because they are not originated from Nigeria where you can easily walk into their office to find out if you are being paid or not, most people who want to join your sales network will get discouraged if your explaination of this area is not very clear to them. Ofourse the money bonus aspect and other benfits are always very juicy but you must break it down very well to the level where your new targets can understand.
So you see how your inside plays major roles than the outward appearance. Let me say one funny thing about the outward appearance though. Do not be selling cosmetics products like perfumes, deodorant , soaps and you smell bad and look unkept talking to people how good your products are for their body. They will not listen because it is obvious, you do not even use the products you are selling or the products are fake. Again do not be selling toothpaste and when you open your mouth, it stinks. No one will buy that toothpaste.
Prepare your self image very well before heading out each day to sell or else you will hate marketing. Marketing to those who understand the terrain is one fantastic job area that can link you up to different aspects of life. I have seen people meet their dream man/woman by being a good sales person. I have seen people getting their dream job by being a good sales person. This is because, as a sales person, you meet a wide variety of people from different parts of life and with different lifestyles so if you get it right, you will be suprised how good your entire life will turn out. You will not just be making good profits from your sales, you will go beyond selling just products but adding good value to your life. If you get it wrong, ofcourse you know the consequences.
Finally, when people reject you, it could make your body/self image slump but do not allow this to deter you from moving on. Not everyone you talk to must respond positively and each individual has what he/she is looking out for. One thing you must be bold to find out from anyone who decides not to buy from you is to know exactly why. This is a very tacky area to deal with because, you can only ask if you are convinced your total self/body package is good. If you are very sure you have done your job well as sales person . Be jovial, tactful/polite or else you will hit a brick wall. An honest response will help you repackage your strategy(if neccessary). Most times, such person have taken note of your products but do not need them at that moment. The fact remains that, you have created an awareness about your products and service and that is job well done. Always give such person your call card with a smile not a frown/long face.
