As part of efforts to reconcile warring groups within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Adolphus Wabara-led Board of Trustees BoT, on Wednesday, established a reconciliation committee to interface with all the groups, in compliance with the Appeal Court Judgement, delivered in Abuja, on Monday.

This is as the Sam Ohuanbuwa-led BoT, loyal to Nyesom Wike also met to perfect plans for the March 29th national convention of the party’s faction, on Wednesday

Bukola Saraki, a former Senate President and chieftain of the party had on Tuesday advised the party to quickly move on and reconcile all the warring factions.

The party’s woe deepened Monday, when the Court of Appeal in Abuja sacked the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC), by annulling the November 15 and 16 Ibadan convention where they were elected.

The three-man panel led by Mohammed Danjuma, also upheld the suspension of Samuel Anyanwu and three others for anti- party activities.

The party has remained divided with one group loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, while the others regrouped around Turaki, with the strong support from Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde of Bauchi and Oyo states respectively.

Reading from a Communique Issued at the end of the party’s expanded emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Wabara stated that the action was necessary to avoid further degeneration into deeper crisis.

The BoT said it was disturbed by the avoidable internal leadership disputes and wranglings leading to damaging litigations with consequential detrimental effect on the unity and smooth running of the PDP as the major opposition party in the country.

The BoT, however, expressed its disagreement with the judgment of the Court of Appeal which pronounced an invalidation of the November 15th to 16th 2025 National Convention that produced the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee of our Party.

It noted that despite the disagreement, it will explore the window provided by the Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division for reconciliation within the party.

They also commended the efforts of Governors Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for their commitment and steadfastness towards the party and wellbeing of all Nigerians.

“Pursuant to Section 32 of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017), we unanimously approved the appointment of Babangida Aliyu as the Secretary of the Board.

They appealed to Nigerians not to be dispirited but remain hopeful as the PDP works hard in repositioning itself for the task of salvaging our nation from the stranglehold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
