Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has outlined economic and infrastructure considerations behind the state chapter’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.
The endorsement was formally announced on February 14 at an event held at Freedom Park, where party members and supporters gathered.
The occasion also featured the reception of lawmakers who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Bolaji Akinola,
Oyetola said the decision followed what he described as an assessment of the administration’s economic direction since assuming office.
According to him, early fiscal and monetary reforms were aimed at stabilising public finances, strengthening revenue generation and improving transparency in government spending.
He noted that measures introduced by the administration were designed to address structural imbalances in the economy and restore investor confidence.
Oyetola maintained that the party believes policy consistency is necessary to allow ongoing reforms to yield fuller results.
He said such projects are central to expanding economic activity and supporting long-term growth.
Oyetola also referenced intervention programmes targeted at students and small and medium-sized enterprises, describing them as part of efforts to manage the social impact of economic adjustments.
The former Osun governor added that improved coordination among security agencies remains part of the administration’s broader governance strategy.
He argued that continuity would enable the completion o
f key infrastructure projects and further consolidation of economic reforms, stating that this informed the Osun APC’s decision to back the President for another term.
