A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has dismissed what he described as smear campaign against the party, insisting it will not stop the APC from winning the August 15 governorship election in the state.

BusinessDay reports that Osun State is currently governed by Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking a second term on the platform of the Accord party following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over internal disputes.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye said the wave of allegations against the APC and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji in the state is driven by fear of imminent defeat.

“The opposition is jittery because of the defeat that awaits them on August 15, and that is why they are resorting to misinformation daily. But the people of Osun are wiser and will not repeat the mistake of 2022. They are ready to return the APC to power,” he said.

Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, said no amount of propaganda or fabricated claims would derail the party’s chances, noting that the APC has resolved its internal issues and is fully prepared for the polls.

He expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s candidacy, describing him as a man of integrity, diligence, and proven capacity to lead the state. The APC chieftain also pointed to the strength of the party’s campaign structure, led by Hon. Wole Oke, as a key advantage ahead of the election.

Oyintiloye urged residents to remain vigilant and not fall for what he called desperate attempts to mislead voters, expressing confidence that the state would return to “progressive governance” after the election.
