The All Progressives Congress has produced a new national working committee at its 8th national convention in Abuja, filling leadership positions across the party’s governing structure through a consensus arrangement endorsed by stakeholders at Eagle Square.
Nentawe Yilwatda was reaffirmed as national chairman and Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru as national secretary, while Ben Nwoye emerged as deputy national chairman for the south — the most significant change from the previous committee. Nwoye replaces Emma Eneukwu following consultations among party leaders, with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah said to have played a key role in securing his inclusion.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, state governors, and members of the national assembly attended the convention. In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda pledged that the new leadership would not “fail or falter.” “We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said.
