Abdulaziz Samaila Satumari, a seasoned finance professional and PhD holder, has announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives, representing Hawul/Askira-Uba Federal constituency of Borno State.
A major contender for the APC ticket in the previous election cycle, the Borno-born politician withdrew from the race at the party’s request. However, the preferred candidate went on to suffer a defeat that cost the APC the seat for the first time in decades.
Satumari’s re-entry into the race is seen not only as a chance for the APC to reclaim its seat in full, but also as a significant boost to technocratic representation in Nigeria’s 11th Assembly.
His recent research focuses on Green Accounting Disclosure and the impact of emissions and waste management on the market value of oil and gas firms — topics critical to Nigeria’s current economic transition.
“We need a results-driven approach to organisational performance in the public sector,” Satumari noted during a sit-out chat with journalists in Maiduguri.
His professional journey has seen him earn the Fellow of the Association of Chartered System Accountants (USA) and participate in high-level international seminars from Rome to Sydney.
Economic analysts suggest that Satumari’s expertise in revenue mobilisation and internal auditing would be invaluable to the House Committees on Finance and Public Accounts.
As the APC seeks to rebuild its influence in Borno, Satumari’s ”positive personality and goal-driven skills” are being touted as the ideal match for a constituency looking for modern, data-backed representation.
Satumari, the CEO of Dillesama & Co. Ltd, brings over 26 years of experience in public sector accounting and strategic management. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (FCIT) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (UK), Satumari has positioned himself as a champion of transparency.
His academic background is particularly tailored for legislative oversight.
He holds a PhD in Accounting from Veritas University, an M.Sc. in Finance from France, and a Master’s in Accounting from ABU Zaria.
