APC clear air on Gov Bala Mohammed’s defection

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has responded to speculations surrounding a possible defection of Governor Bala Mohammed from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stating that it has no official information on the matter.

Speaking on the issue, the Bauchi APC chairman, Muhammad Tilde, said the party would not comment on behalf of the governor, stressing that any decision to defect rests solely with the individual involved.

“If it is being said that someone is coming to the APC, the person concerned should be asked. It is not the party’s place to answer that,” he said.

Tilde reiterated that joining a political party is a personal decision and noted that the APC cannot confirm claims that have not been formally communicated.

He also outlined that the process of defection follows a structured path, beginning at the grassroots level rather than at the top.

According to him, any intending member must first register at their ward before progressing through the party hierarchy.

This remark comes amid reports circulating online suggesting that Governor Mohammed may be considering a move away from the PDP

Governor has publicly dismissed such claims, maintaining that he remains a committed member of the party.

The PDP leadership in the state, under Kabiru Taminu Turaki also debunked the defection rumours.

At the grassroots level, APC officials say they are equally unaware of any such move.

The party chairman of Yuli Ward in Alkaleri Local Government Area, Governor Mohammed’s home base, said no formal communication has been received.
