Issues on taxation will be taking the centre stage as Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) holds a taxation round-table aimed at sensitising corporate firms and business owners on key tax related topics that affect business operations in Nigeria.
The business event, according to the organisers, is scheduled to hold June 7, at the LCCI Conference and Exhibition centre in Lagos.
“Government at all levels are currently faced with severe revenue challenges as a result of the sharp drop in oil price. This development has increased the focus of the government on taxation.
It has therefore become necessary to educate and enlighten business owners on how to respond to these emerging developments,” Muda Yusuf, director-general, LCCI, said.
“This platform will enable various stakeholders to deliberate on key aspects of taxation, compliance and related issues. It will also allow participants share perspectives on the current status of the Nigerian taxation system as well as sensitize business owners on proper documentation for taxation,” Yusuf said.
Yusuf also emphasised that seasoned professionals and notable tax experts from organisations such as: PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Aelex Legal Practitioners, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) will be available to attend to participants’ queries on taxation.
