…But warns against creating two education standards in Nigeria
Africa’s leading indigenous manufacturer of interactive technology systems, Wowbii Infrastructure, has donated 20 units of Wowbii interactive boards to the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA). This is said to be in a significant move to strengthen digital learning infrastructure across Nigeria’s Federal Unity Colleges.
According to a statement distributed in Port Harcourt by Chioma Aninwe, publicity secretary of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), the presentation took place in Lagos with members of the alumni leadership and invited stakeholders in attendance.
The statement said the donation forms part of Wowbii’s ongoing commitment to advancing technology-driven education and supporting institutions that uphold academic excellence. It also aligns with the Federal Government’s drive to modernize classrooms, promote digital learning adoption, and strengthen institutional capacity across public schools.
While presenting the interactive boards, Gbolahan Olayomi, the Founder and Group CEO of Equipment Hall Limited and Wowbii Infrastructure, emphasized the importance of supporting Nigeria’s Unity Colleges.
“Unity Colleges represent a critical component of Nigeria’s educational heritage and national integration framework. Supporting USOSA with modern interactive learning technology is a strategic contribution toward improving classroom delivery, enhancing student engagement, and aligning our schools with global digital learning standards,” he stated.
The USOSA, under the leadership Mike Magaji as President-General, according to the statement, continues to play an active role in the development and support of Federal Unity Colleges across the country. The association works closely with partners and stakeholders to improve infrastructure, learning conditions, and academic outcomes within the schools.
Wowbii, with a huge base in Trans-Amadi area of Port Harcourt, reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the FG, State Governments, and institutional partners to accelerate the adoption of interactive, hybrid, and virtual learning technologies in schools, universities, and training institutions nationwide.
This initiative is said to form part of broader efforts to position Nigeria’s education system for global competitiveness through innovation and digital transformation.
Giving further insight in an interview with BusinessDay in Port Harcourt, the Group CEO said Wowbii Interactive board transforms the classroom from a passive learning space to an engaged, collaborative, and technology driven learning zone. “Teachers become more productive, they can save lessons, reuse materials, connect and even teach students in different locations simultaneously.
“Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning is improved, students are more attentive, participatory, and prepared for digital workspaces. This is the classroom experience in advanced countries and Nigerian students deserve the same.”
On how this can be made to get to all public schools in Nigeria to avoid creating two academic standards in the country, the CEO said: “Our position is that every public school child in Nigeria deserves access to modern learning tools. The solution is a nationwide implementation by the Federal and State Governments. If interactive learning technology is only accessible in selected schools, we will unintentionally create two different education systems in Nigeria – one digital and progressive, and one outdated.”
The CEO, who could not estimate what it cost the government to make digital education go round schools in Nigeria, said the cost would depend on the scale, configuration, and deployment model. “It is important to note that countries that invested in digital classrooms are the ones leading in technology today. This is an investment in national productivity, innovation, and future workforce development.”
He also declined to give the cost of the donations, saying: “This particular donation was executed as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) education support initiative. Our vision is to transform the way Africa learns and works with technology, so the total cost of this project is less important than the purpose to demonstrate that transformation is possible in our education sector when industry stakeholders collaborate.”
Wowbii is indicated as the premier indigenous ‘Original Equipment Manufacturer’ (OEM) of interactive learning technology systems that support 21st century innovation for education in Africa. The firm has been delivering transformative learning tools in Nigeria and Africa for over 10 years.
“This donation to USOSA is only the beginning. We had donated two interactive boards to FGGC Abuloma when the school turned 50 last year (2025).
We are partnering with industry stakeholders for a structured transformation of public classrooms into fully digitized ecosystems.
“Education is the foundation of every strong nation. Nigeria can lead globally if our children are equipped with digital technology tools which set them at per with students in developed countries.
“Technology in the classroom is no longer optional, it is a necessity. We call on industry stakeholders to support the modernization of public education in Nigeria.
“Wowbii remains committed to partnering with all stakeholders to bring this much needed transformation.”
