Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have killed 10  terrorists and recovered weapons during coordinated clearance operations in parts of Plateau State, targeting criminal elements operating along known corridors in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.

The operation, conducted in collaboration with local vigilante groups, forms part of the ongoing offensive codenamed Operation WUTAN DAJI.

The development was contained in a statement signed by Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, made available to Journalists on Friday in Jos.

According to the statement, troops on Thursday established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest, where they encountered a large group of terrorists moving on motorcycles along a known transit route.

“The troops swiftly and decisively engaged the criminals with superior and well-coordinated volume of fire, overwhelming them despite initial resistance,” the statement said.

It added that no fewer than 10 terrorists were neutralized during the encounter, while others fled into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds, abandoning their logistics and operational equipment.

In a related development, troops responded to a distress report of an attack on commuters along the Razat and Kafi Abu axis, launching a pursuit of the perpetrators into nearby hinterlands and conducting cordon-and-search operations in Suma Suga and Takwok villages.

“Items recovered from the fleeing terrorists include three AK-47 rifles, magazines, ammunition, motorcycles, and fuel supplies, as well as identity materials that will aid ongoing investigations,” the statement added, noting that troops remain on high alert and are continuing operations to restore peace in the area.
