President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos in the early hours of Friday after a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom, landing at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport at 1.15 am alongside the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
He is expected to join Muslim faithful later in the morning for Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground.
The President was received on the tarmac by Lagos State Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, the governor’s wife Dr Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and senior figures of the All Progressives Congress.

In his Eid message, Tinubu urged Nigerian Muslims to carry the values of Ramadan beyond the holy month. “We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion,” he said.
The return follows what Tinubu described as a “very thrilling and significant” trip — the first state visit to the United Kingdom by a Nigerian leader in 37 years. Before departing London, he met Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at Downing Street, where both governments announced a £746 million deal to refurbish two major ports in Lagos.
Tinubu said discussions covered trade, the economy, climate change, terrorism and wider global challenges, adding that Nigeria and the United Kingdom shared “a vision of progress and resilience.”
The visit’s centrepiece was a state banquet hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, where the President reviewed a guard of honour and received a 42-gun salute from the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery.
