Tinubu meets former president Jonathan in closed-door talks

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday met with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the presidential Villa, Abuja.

Details of their engagements were not immediately available. 

The meeting, held behind closed doors, is the first both leaders will be meeting this year. 

President Tinubu had met former President Goodluck Jonathan during the recent visit to Yenagoa to commission projects executed by Governor Duoyi Diri of Bayelsa State.

BusinessDay gathered that the meeting was a private engagement between the two leaders.

Former President Jonathan was, towards the end of 2025, rumoured to be interested in running for the office of the President in 2027, a rumour he distanced himself from.
