…As traders celebrate end of Monday Sit-At-Home

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has revealed plans to democratise all market leaderships in the State.

Governor Soludo gave the hint in Onitsha during the thanksgiving service organised by the umbrella body of traders in the State, Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Associations ( ASMATA) to celebrate the end of five years of Monday sit-at-home.

The governor, who was represented by Mike Obiekwe, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade and Commerce, assured the traders of adequate security, good policies and infrastructure to accelerate ease of doing business in the state.

He commended Humphrey Anuna, President General of ASMATA, for ensuring that traders were peaceful and supportive to the Government.

“The governor is happy with the traders because they are peaceful and supportive. The governor is assuring the traders and all residents and visitors that he will continue to ensure tight security and all that is necessary to ensure ease of doing business including friendly policies and quality infrastructures” Obiekwe said.

In his remarks, Anuna, President of ASMATA, gave account of Govenror Soludo’s impact on traders with numerous projects that have directly and indirectly uplifted them in the State.

Anuna said they included massive road construction, tight security and environmental management with effective decongestion of major roads and strict traffic control as well as restoring the confidence of traders in governance.

He said that the traders deemed it worthy to celebrate the end of Monday sit-at-home with a thanksgiving in the Church as a mark of expression of gratitude to God.

Anuna commended Governor Soludo for mustering the force to quash sit-at-home while calling on traders both within and outside the state to resume normal daily business as Monday sit-at-home had been brought to an end.

Also speaking, Jude Nwankwo, President of Building Material International Market, Ogidi, who is also a patron of ASMATA, called on traders mostly those from outside to start coming on Mondays because business has resumed fully in the state.

Nwankwo thanked God for his blessings and also commended the governor for restoring the confidence of Anambrarians in government with impactful governance, noting that Soludo’s impact Soludo has made people to believe in government like never before in the State.

Other market leaders in their separate speeches, including Ifeoma Anne and Blessing Ezedebego of ASMATA Women Wing, Obiora Stephen, Chairman New Autor Spare Parts Market Nkpor and Chinedu Uba, Chairman of Onyeaghananwanneya Abattoir, Umunya, among others thanked the governor and the ASMATA boss for ensuring peace in the State.

Earlier, Boniface Okafor, Champlain of St Charles Borromeo Parish (Chaplaincy), commended the good relationship between the Government and the traders, praying that God would continue to guide and protect traders and the governor.
