Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday, visited former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai at the Abuja residence.

BusinessDay gathered that Vice President Shettima was at the residence to personally offer his condolences following the passing of the former governor’s mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.

Hajiya Umma passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday last week after a brief illness.

Shettima described the deceased as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength for her family.

He also offered prayers for the repose of her soul and for the El-Rufai family to find the strength to navigate this difficult period of mourning.

Recall that El-Rufai recently faced legal issues over cases of corruption while serving as Governor of Kaduna.

He was also detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, before he was arraigned on corruption charges in Kaduna.

Shettima’s visit followed similar visits by members of the African Democratic Congress ADC, which included Atiku Abubakar, amongst others.
