The Plateau State Police Command has reassured residents of sustained security vigilance amid evolving geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and their potential global implications.

In a statement issued by  Bassey Ewah, the commissioner of police, Plateau state command, through Alfred Alabo the spokesperson, made available to Journalists on Sunday in Jos, the police said it had reinforced proactive, intelligence-led policing measures across the state in collaboration with other security agencies to forestall any security breach.

The Police chief  stated that although Plateau remains stable, the Command has heightened surveillance, intensified intelligence gathering, and strengthened engagement with traditional, religious, and opinion leaders statewide.

He said enhanced visibility policing and patrols had also been deployed around worship centres and public spaces to ensure swift response to any attempt to exploit global developments to incite unrest.

“While Plateau State remains stable and our internal security situation firmly under control, we have reinforced proactive, intelligence-led policing measures to guarantee continued peace and security,” Ewah said.

“The Plateau State Police Command will not allow the state to serve as a theatre for foreign conflicts. Any attempt to import external ideological or religious tensions will be met with the full weight of the law,” he added.

The Command urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, and to report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or through designated emergency numbers, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
