Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has called on the Muslim Ummah to uphold the virtues of unity, compassion, and generosity beyond the holy month of Ramadan. The Governor further reassured grieving families across the state of the government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security.

​The Governor made these remarks on Friday during a press briefing shortly after observing the two raka’at Eid-el-Fitr prayer at the Batagarawa Mosque, led by Imam Abdullahi Musa.

​Reflections on Ramadan and social cohesion

​Governor Radda described Eid-el-Fitr as a significant milestone for Muslims worldwide, marking the successful completion of Ramadan. He noted that it serves as a period for reflection, gratitude, and celebration, emphasizing that the lessons of kindness, fairness, patience, and generosity must be integrated into daily life to foster harmony and social cohesion.
​The Governor expressed his appreciation to the citizens of Katsina for their resilience and cooperation, particularly during the state’s recent challenges. He also commended the dedication of security agencies and community members for their continued efforts to maintain stability.

​Reaffirming the security mandate

​Reiterating his administration’s priorities, Radda reaffirmed a determination to restore lasting peace and enhance the well-being of all residents. “Today is a very significant day in the life of Muslims all over the world. It marks the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr—a day of joy for the Muslim Ummah,” the Governor stated.

​”I join millions of Muslims across the world in wishing everyone a happy and blessed Eid. I call for unity, harmony, and mutual support, as taught during the holy month. We must continue to be fair and kind to those in need, ensuring these values remain part of our daily conduct.”

​A pledge to grieving families

​Addressing the security situation directly, Governor Radda offered condolences to those affected by recent unrest. “We deeply sympathise with families who have lost loved ones. We want to assure them that intensive efforts are ongoing to bring an end to these unfortunate incidents,” he added.

​The Governor expressed optimism for the future, stating: “We are hopeful that, by the next Salah, in sha Allah, our people will celebrate in peace, safety, and happiness. We pray to Almighty Allah to protect our citizens, grant peace to our state, and bless our nation with stability and prosperity.
