The Ogun State Government, in partnership with the Society for Family Health, has launched the First Integrated Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child Adolescent Elderly Health and Nutrition, RMNCAEH+N Demand Generation Health Facility Flip Chart to strengthen health communication and improve service delivery across facilities and communities in the State.
Elijah Ogunsola, the Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board, speaking at the official launch and dissemination, described the initiative as a strategic tool for enhancing client-centered care and informed health decision-making.
Ogunsola represented by Thomas Solarin, Director, Disease Control and Immunisation, explained that the flip chart is a practical and easy-to-use resource designed to support healthcare providers and social/community mobilisers in delivering clear, accurate, and consistent health information, saying that in a dynamic health system where communities rely on trusted sources of guidance, the tool presents essential health messages in a simple visual format that strengthens the quality of counselling and promotes better health outcomes.
Ogunsola commended development partners, particularly the Society for Family Health, for their support in bringing the initiative to reality, and lauded the Department of Community and Family Health Services of the Board for producing what he described as the first health promotion manual usable at both facility and community levels. He also appreciated the Ogun State Commissioner for Health for creating an enabling environment, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building a more responsive, people-centered health system.
Anthony Nwala, the Coordinating Director, RMNCAEH+N Programme Delivery Unit of the Society for Family Health, has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through its Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) Project. He noted that the projects provides technical support for coordinated planning, including technical assistance to the development of AOP MNCH/SBCC Technical Working Group and stakeholder engagements.
Nwala explained that the project also focuses on boosting demand for health services through community-driven strategies such as male engagement, community orientation, interpersonal communication, outreach activities, and the use of mass and social media to promote key health messages and improve service uptake.
He added that DISC supports quality service delivery and data management through capacity building for health workers, including empathy counselling trainings, as well as technical support for family planning forecasting and last mile distribution. He emphasised that ongoing data quality and validation exercises at state and local government levels are critical to ensuring effective, evidence-based health interventions.
Nwala, described Ogun state as a flagship State as far as innovative health care delivery is concerned by showing exceptional leadership when it comes to innovative and health care delivery, saying that the program was one of those innovations that makes the state stand out. He urged providers and health workers that the vision should be shared, owned, and implemented by every body across the health sector
Speaking on behalf of Development Partners, the World Health Organization (WHO), through its representative, Goodness Ojo, congratulated the Ogun State Government, the Ogun State Primary Health Care Board, SFH Nigeria, and the DISC Project on the successful dissemination of the Integrated RMNCAH+N Flipchart, describing it as a strong step toward improving health outcomes through innovative, people-centered approaches and community engagement.
She also commended the collaboration and leadership behind the evidence-based tool, noting that it will strengthen health education, support frontline workers, and empower communities. She reaffirmed WHO’s continued technical support as Ogun State advances toward universal health coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring no one is left behind.
