Olatunji Disu, Inspector-General of Police, on Monday decorated 30 newly promoted senior officers and charged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
The event, held in Abuja followed the recent promotion of 84 senior officers across various ranks.
Of those decorated, 13 officers were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), while 17 were promoted to Commissioners of Police (CP).
The promotion exercise also included 54 Deputy Commissioners (DCP) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP).
Disu described the promotions as a recognition of merit, discipline, and professional competence, stressing that the elevations were not merely ceremonial but part of a strategy to reposition the Force.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to people-oriented policing, emphasizing that respect for human rights and sustained community engagement remain central to policing operations nationwide.
As part of efforts to deepen leadership capacity, the police chief announced that all newly promoted AIGs would participate in a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat beginning March 24, 2026.
The programme, organised in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, is aimed at strengthening transformational leadership and modern policing standards among senior officers.
