A human capital development organisation, Genius Hub, has launched a digital workforce platform, Betaawork, aimed at connecting verified skilled professionals with employers and job opportunities across Nigeria.
The platform, unveiled during an onboarding session for skilled professionals in Benin City, is designed as a digital marketplace that bridges the gap between job seekers and organisations in need of skilled labour.
Isimeme Whyte, Founder and Group Managing Director of Genius Hub, said the initiative forms part of the organisation’s broader efforts to tackle unemployment, promote dignified jobs and support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with skilled manpower.
Whyte explained that through its T-BEST Institution, Genius Hub had spent the past decade focusing on human capital development by equipping young people with practical skills that enable them to earn sustainable livelihoods.
According to her, more than 100,000 young persons have been trained over the last ten years, with many of them manually matched with job and internship opportunities.
She noted, however, that the manual process of linking trained individuals with employers often proved difficult and limited the number of people that could be reached, prompting the development of the digital platform.
“Betaawork platform provides a structured ecosystem where verified skilled professionals can showcase their expertise while employers and organisations can easily access qualified talent,” Whyte said.
She explained that the platform operates on two levels — the supply side, consisting of individuals with verified skills seeking opportunities, and the demand side, which includes companies and organisations searching for competent professionals to engage.
Whyte disclosed that more than 500 skilled professionals had already registered on the platform on the first day of onboarding, expressing optimism that the number would grow significantly as more users join.
Beyond job placement, she added that Genius Hub’s programmes also focus on life skills and self-discovery training to prepare participants psychologically and professionally for the workplace.
The organisation has also partnered with several international and government institutions, including the German government and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), on programmes supporting youth employment, entrepreneurship development and the reintegration of return migrants.
