Congolese artist Vickash Beni Kat has reached a career milestone with the release of his album Am Different, which has climbed to No. 1 on streaming charts in several regions. The project has also secured a top-five spot on Billboard’s World Albums Chart and debuted at the top of the UK Afrobeats Streaming Chart.

Beni Kat’s rise has been steady. He began by performing in small venues, producing for new acts, and shaping a style influenced by rumba, highlife, R&B, and hip-hop. Speaking on his approach, he said, “I wanted music that could move a crowd and still mean something when you’re alone.”

The album is built with a deliberate flow. Astroverse opens with expansive energy, while Eh Ja introduces rhythmic urgency. goddess shifts to a reflective mood, before Setting the Standard highlights his drive. The record closes with World on Fire, a track that balances melancholy and resolve.

Critics note that the strength of Am Different lies in its sincerity. “It feels authentic without being nostalgic,” said UK-based reviewer Maya Connolly. “It’s rooted in where he comes from, but it’s also looking forward.”
