…as second term bid faces uphill battle
Henry Tamunotonye Bell-Gam, Commissioner for Special Duties, who is less than two weeks in Office, has described Siminalayi Fubara, as the best governor in the South-South geopolitical zone.
His comment comes against the backdrop of the governor’s perceived uphill task to secure a second term ticket.
This is despite feelers that the All Progressives Congress (APC) may have assured its first-term governors of a second-term ticket.
Rumour suggests that a second-term ticket for the Rivers State governor might not be in the bag yet.
This is despite the so-called peace pact reached between camps loyal to Fubara and Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Bell-Gam, during a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, however hinged his assessment on “Fubara’s achievements in governance, infrastructure development and public sector reforms within the past three years.”
He said Fubara had demonstrated remarkable leadership despite political turbulence, adding that the governor’s focus on development has continued to uplift the socio-economic fortunes of Rivers people.
Bell-Gam said: “Governor Fubara has shown that leadership is not about political noise, but about service. In three years, he has built bridges of peace and laid foundations for sustainable development”.
He noted that Fubara’s Administration has maintained a governance-first philosophy despite political challenges, ensuring that public service- delivery continues uninterrupted.
The commissioner stressed that Rivers State under Fubara’s watch had recorded notable progress in infrastructure renewal and institutional reforms in the dispensation.
“Leadership is measured not by political battles, but by developmental footprints in the sand of time,” he said.
He urged Rivers people to support the governor politically ahead of next year’s polls, assuring them of the provision of good governance and dividends of democracy.
