Awka, the capital of Anambra State was calm, Friday, an eve of the off season governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Commercial activities went on smoothly, while residents went about their normal businesses.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Awka, was a behive of activity Friday, as the electoral body concluded the accreditation of local and foreign journalists that applied to cover the election.

Civil society organisations, like the Civil lLberty Organisation (CLO), International Association of Peace Advocate (AWPA), among others were also at the Anambra INEC office to finalize their accreditations to enable them to monitor the election.

There is also a strong presence of security operatives in major junctions of the State capital.

Hoteliers are also making brisk business, as their facities iare fully booked, due to the influx of journalists and civil rights groups, who have come in from different States and outside the country to monitor the election.
