Ahmed Audi retires as NSCDC Commandant-General after 5 years of service

Ahmed Audi, Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Friday formally bowed out of service after attaining the mandatory retirement age and completing his tenure at the helm of the paramilitary agency.

Audi, who assumed office on March 1, 2021, following his appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari, marked his final day in office during activities commemorating the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.

His exit brings to a close a five-year leadership period during which he oversaw key operational and administrative reforms within the Corps, including renewed efforts to strengthen the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, enhance personnel welfare, and expand the Corps’ presence across states.

The Federal Government is yet to announce his successor as of the time of filing this report.

Audi, who hails from Nasarawa State, was born on September 30, 1967.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University, Keffi and a Master’s degree in Public Business Administration from University of Calabar.

He is also a member of the National Institute, a professional body that recognises senior public officers and administrators.

Colleagues and senior officers of the Corps described his tenure as one marked by institutional consolidation and increased public visibility for the NSCDC, particularly in the areas of anti-vandalism operations, disaster response, and collaboration with other security agencies.
