ADC national convention commences as Mark, Atiku, and other key stakeholders arrive

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention has officially commenced in Abuja following the arrival of prominent party stakeholders. David Mark, ADC National Chairman, arrived alongside Atiku Abubakar, former Vice-President; Peter Obi, former presidential candidate, and former Rotimi Amaechi, Rivers State Governor.

Other high-profile figures present include Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Kano State governor, and Rauf Aregbesola, former Osun State governor. Their arrival signalled the formal start of proceedings after several hours of anticipation and high-level, behind-the-scenes consultations.

Strategic consultations precede the official opening

Party delegates and supporters, many of whom had gathered at the venue since the early hours, welcomed the leaders’ arrival. Sources indicated that prior to the opening, top party figures held crucial meetings to harmonise positions on major issues expected to shape the party’s future.

These consultations were reportedly aimed at ensuring a unified front as the party enters a critical phase of its internal restructuring. Delegates expressed optimism that the deliberations would result in a stronger, more cohesive organisation.

Convention to ratify the 2027 manifesto

The convention is expected to ratify the party’s new constitution and manifesto in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The document is anticipated to outline the ADC’s strategic response to Nigeria’s current socio-economic challenges.
