At least 13 Nigerians detained in Mozambique are expected to arrive in Lagos on Wednesday night following their deportation, according to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
The returnees are scheduled to land at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, at about 8:30 p.m. aboard a South African Airways flight SA60.
NiDCOM disclosed that the individuals had been held in Mozambique prior to their deportation, although details surrounding their detention and the circumstances leading to their removal were not immediately made public.
The commission will receive the deportees on arrival and provide initial support, including profiling and reintegration assistance where necessary.
NiDCOM has urged Nigerians travelling or residing overseas to comply with the laws of their host countries, while also reaffirming its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of citizens in the diaspora.
