Residents and motorists in Eket now have improved access to fuel following the opening of a new petrol station by Pivot Energy at 101 Marina Road.
The station aims to increase fuel availability in the area and provide a more convenient option for commuters, transport operators, and businesses that rely on a steady energy supply.
Speaking at the official launch on 14 March 2026, Mr Gabriel Igbokwe, Director of Sales at Pivot Energy, said, “Our goal is to provide consistent fuel supply to the people of Eket and support local businesses that depend on energy for their daily operations.”
Mr Aje Omagbemi, Group Head of Retail, added, “This station is part of our ongoing effort to expand access to fuel in regions where demand is growing. We want residents to have a reliable option for their energy needs.”
The launch was attended by community leaders and stakeholders, including Captain Shehu Chindo Habila, representing COL JK Adisa, Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Brigade Army; Rt. Hon. Inyang Akpawan, Vice Chairman of Eket Local Government; Esuene Udoagaha, Youth Leader of Eket; and Pastor Kelechi, Resident Pastor of Winners Chapel Eket. Representatives from unions such as the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Cyclists Union were also present.
“The opening of this station will reduce the stress of fuel scarcity and long queues for residents,” said Esuene Udoagaha. “It will also support smoother transportation in the city.”
The station is expected to create employment opportunities and support nearby businesses. Analysts note that increased private sector participation in the energy sector can improve access and strengthen local economies.
Pivot Energy has expanded its operations through strategic investments aimed at increasing energy access. The company offers a range of energy solutions focused on supply reliability and long-term value.
“With this station, we are contributing to the fuel distribution network in Eket,” said Miss Jacinta Aziekwu, HR Manager. “We also hope to support local commerce and provide jobs for the community.”
The launch comes as Akwa Ibom State experiences growth in economic activity, increasing the need for efficient and accessible energy infrastructure. The presence of an additional fuel station is seen as a practical step toward supporting mobility, commerce, and daily life for residents of Eket.
