In a bold stride to effectively connect the African Diaspora from all over the world to their continent of origin, Jesin Games has unveiled AfriTrivia, a unique education board game, designed to promote facts about the African continent.

AfriTrivia is an educational tool that allows players to explore the continent’s vibrant cultures and histories through a diverse range of topics.

According to the company, the ultimate goal of developing the game is to create a world where knowledge of African cultures and histories is readily available and celebrated.

Speaking at the launch of the educational board game in Lagos, Soji Adelaja, chairman of the Advisory Board of Jesin Games, said the game was created to, among other things improve awareness about Africa, even among Africans themselves and promote the best of her countries, culture and people.

Adelaja said that with a vision to create more engaging educational resources, the company aims to develop a suite of innovative products that expand beyond its current user base.

According to him, the company envisions incorporating digital platforms and mobile applications to make the game more accessible to a global audience.

“We plan to add more value by expanding his collaboration with schools and organisations to develop curriculum resources that complement AfriTrivia, enhancing its educational value,” he said.

Adelaja further said that topics that children and adults can learn through this game include: people and places, arts and culture, government and politics, history, sports and entertainment and quotations.

John Esin, the developer of AfriTrivia, said in 2024, he took a monumental step toward merging his medical expertise with his vision for Africa by founding Jesin Games and launching AfriTrivia to celebrate the rich history and fascinating traditions of the African continent.

Esin said with his background as someone born in the United States but raised in both Nigeria and North America, he has a rich understanding of the diverse landscapes, histories, and cultures that define the African continent.

According to him, this background inspired him to create AfriTrivia, an innovative educational game that explores various facets of African life.

He noted that throughout his education, he became increasingly aware of the gaps in knowledge regarding African history and culture, particularly among students and young professionals in the West.

“The game has been embraced in schools and community programmes in the United States, serving as a valuable resource for promoting cultural awareness and education,” he said.

On his part, Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River, said AfriTrivia is a testament to the importance of honouring and sharing diverse narratives, ensuring that the rich heritage of African people is recognised and celebrated around the world.

Duke noted that with the launch of the board game, it would not only enhance their knowledge of African cultures but would also foster a sense of pride and connection to their heritage.

We are planning several launch events, but we thought that the first should be in Nigeria, the largest and most populous African nation and the center of the African race.

Aside from the Lagos launch, the game will also be launched in Marrakech at the African Heritage Concert and Award Ceremony and in the United States.
