Wreforce Hassan Usman is the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Assembly aspirant for Gombi constituency in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State. In this interview, he spoke about his mission and vision for his constituency in the areas of agriculture, health, education, water and youth employment. He promised to give an impactful representation if elected. EMMANUEL SALAWU brings the excerpts:

Why are you vying for your party’s ticket to represent Gombi Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly?

It is because I have passion for service to my people and there are things I will bring to the table like real positive change. I am interested in the ADC ticket to run for the Gombi seat in the Adamawa State House of Assembly in next year’s general election because our community has not had proper representation for a long time now. People here have been neglected, their needs ignored, and their voices unheard in the Assembly. Gombi deserves someone young, energetic, and genuinely passionate about their welfare, someone from the community who will speak up for them.

With the number of aspirants eyeing the ticket of your party in your constituency. What are your chances of getting it?

I am very confident that I will be favourably considered for the ticket. I am simply the best person for the job. Gombi needs someone who cares about its people. The people of Gombi have said that they want a change in representation. My views on governance are reflected in my social and community engagement. However, one must move with God and pray strongly for divine favour as it is not entirely up to the candidate.

What will be your legislative priorities if you are elected to represent Gombi Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly?

My constituency is facing a lot of challenges but I will concentrate on three or four major needs of my people especially. In Gombi, we have the issue of insecurity, education, agriculture, infrastructure and unemployment; so, if I am elected, I will do my utmost best to look into these needs critically for the good of my people.

What will you do differently if you are allowed to represent the constituency, compared to the current lawmaker representing the constituency?

If I get the chance to represent Gombi Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, I will ensure I am active and involved not just present in name. I will be visible and easy to reach and accountable to the people not just during elections, but throughout my time in the House. I want to be a lawmaker who listens, turns community needs into real laws and makes sure the government promises are kept. Like I said before, I will take issue of major concerns to my people like agricultural development, education and what will create employment for the youth so that they will not be involved in vices.

You sound very confident. Is it the first time you are involved in politics?

No, I have been doing politics before for at least ten years now, but this is my first time as an aspirant.

African Democratic Congress (ADC) is getting popular in Adamawa State and across the country. Why?

Firstly, Nigerians are looking for a real change and ADC is ready to offer that change with human face to the Nigerian citizens who have gone through pains since APC came into office eleven years ago.

We are doing so many enlightenment projects which so many Nigerians have accepted as their own because All Progressive Congress has failed woefully with their poor performance.

Politics in Nigeria is capital intensive. How prepared are you for the contest?

Politics in Nigeria has sadly become very expensive. Those in power often make it hard for newcomers to compete, I still believe that where there’s a will, there’s a way, and with God’s help, I will find a way, and my people are behind me.

What is your assessment of the performance of the lawmaker representing Gombi Constituency now?

I am not seeing any viable performance by the lawmaker now.

How can you assess the Governor of Adamawa State, Umuru Fintiri?

Honestly, he has tried to change the face of governance in Adamawa State in almost every area, both in education and infrastructural development. He has done well though we are not in the same party. Since I was born in this state, I have not seen a performing governor like Fintiri. He is doing pretty well.

What is your assessment of President Bola Tinubu?

I have nothing to use to assess President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at all. Nigerians are suffering from insecurity, hunger and depression everywhere under his government. He has disappointed Nigerians so much.

Finally, what is your message to the people of Gombi Constituency as the election is fast approaching?

They should stand firm to defend their votes and vote for the right candidate.
