The creative industry has received a major boost as photographers converge in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for the second edition of the visual conference, which will also feature exhibitions and awards.

Expected to attract the best of the creative minds and big names in the industry, the visual conference is being convened by Idara Adiakpan, the chief photographer to Governor Umo Eno.

Adiakpan, who is also Special Assistant to the governor, said at a press conference in Uyo, the state capital, that the conference was to celebrate talented photographers, adding that it allows her to give back to the profession that has given her so much in life.

“A way of giving back to the industry, there is so I can do for the industry, this conference will feature exhibitions and awards to provide social capital to the awardees,” she said.

Noting the emergence of digital technology and Artificial Intelligence, Adiakpan, who has initiated projects to support Uyo-based photographers, said the conference would expose participants to training opportunities in the industry.

According to her, the idea is to see a growing creative industry capable of providing jobs and employment to young , up and upcoming photographers.

“It is to help our creative industry, it will put the people on track and help them know what are the current trends in the industry.

“This year we are introducing exhibitions and awards to celebrate the talents by photographers and to inspire our them,” she said

Also speaking, Bunmi Oyekami, director of the project, lauded Governor Umo Eno for the support towards the hosting of the “three-in-one conference,” adding that it is intended to help “the creative industry operators to rise and display their competence in the sector, which will eventually earn them financial capital.”
