The Federal Government’s efforts at ensuring in country capacities enhanced and capital flight checked through local content development have received boost with the commencement of fabrication of pressure vessels, process equipment and steel structures, by Energy Works Technology Limited (EWT).

The company has un- veiled the first-ever 90mm Stainless Steel Clad Separator built in Nigeria for the benefit of the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

According to EWT, a sister company to Nestoil, a leading EPCC company, the 90mm Stainless Steel Clad Separator is in fulfillment of the agenda of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCD- MB), which emphasises Local Fabrication of Pressure Vessels that is aimed at deepening local content in the oil and gas sector by improving the capacity of indigenous companies.

Ernest Azudialu Obiejesi, chairman, EWT, who was represented by Austin Agomuoh, general manager, projects, at Nestoil, said the company was committed to the cause of deepening local content in the energy sector.

He said: “This landmark achievement by Energy Works is a reflection of the Obijackson Group’s vision to maximise the potentials inherent in the Local Content Act signed into law in 2010.

“As a successful indigenous conglomerate with a range of capabilities across the energy and maritime sectors, we are convinced that the next step for us is to support smaller fabricators. This will have a multiplier effect on economic growth and reduce importation of vessels such as this.”

Emeka Nnadi, managing director, EWT Limited, in his contribution, noted that the successful completion of the 90mm thick, 316 stainless steel clad Inlet Separator had demonstrated the viability of the Nigerian Content Development Project and its potential impact on the Nigerian economy.

With this, development time for such projects in the oil and gas sector is shortened and the development process of fields are also carried at less cost than if they had to be imported.

Pressure vessels are closed containers designed to hold gases or liquids at a pressure substantially dif- ferent from the ambient pressure.
