Stakeholders in the education sector would be converging at an education convention designed to come up with solutions to Nigeria’s numerous educational challenges.
Conceived by Meadow Hall Foundation (MHF), a subsidiary of Meadow Hall Group, the two-day Education Convention is themed: ‘Transforming our Society through Education’ and brings education stakeholders together to discuss and learn ways to advance our society through education and comprises of an Education Conference and a Mentor-mentee Event for educators.
The Education Convention comprises of the following:
Day 1: Education Conference holding on Thursday, 20th April 2017 at City Hall, Lagos Island.
Teachers, head teachers, school leaders, school owners, parents and community members, as well as, government officials and policy-makers should attend this event. Keynote speakers include Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former Vice President of the World Bank; Fela Durotoye, CEO, Gemstone Group; Obafela Bank-Olemoh, Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Education and Kehinde Nwani, CEO, Meadow Hall Group.
Day 2: Mentor-mentee Event for Educators, holding on Friday 21st April 2017 at Meadow Hall, Lekki, Lagos.
The Mentor-mentee Event is an opportunity for renowned educational leaders to positively impact upon the practices and lives of school owners, school leaders and teachers. Teachers, head teachers, school leaders and school owners are expected to attend this event.
The objectives of the education convention include encouraging the development of professional excellence and dedicated service of educators from the public and private sectors, as well as, equipping educational stakeholders to use education as a tool for societal transformation.
The education convention will provide networking opportunities for all participants to interact with educational experts, professional development (21st Century skills) for educators and personal development for parents to learn how to complement teachers’ efforts towards inspiring creativity in their children, as well as, discussions and direct feedback on educational issues. All stakeholders will learn how to help children achieve their highest potential towards societal development.
MHF’s Education Convention is open to teachers, head teachers, school leaders, school owners, parents, community members, government officials and policy-makers. It costs N5,000 to attend. Another MHF’s initiative is the Inspirational Educator Awards (INSEA) which is an upcoming event aimed at elevating the teaching profession and motivating teachers and educational leaders to continue to strive for excellence in their profession. The inspirational teacher of the year will receive a cash award of ₦1,000,000.00 and the inspirational head-teacher of the year will receive a cash award of ₦2, 000,000 for their passion and innovation.
