Ondo State, Nigeria, April 2026

Rex Forestry Limited, a leading sustainable forestry and plantation management company operating within the Oluwa Forest Reserve, has successfully completed the construction and rehabilitation of more than 50 kilometres of strategic access roads across multiple rural communities in Ondo State. The initiative forms part of the company’s commitment to sustainable development under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework.

Operating under a long-term Public–Private Partnership concession with the Ondo State Government across the OA, OA2 and OA6 zones, Rex Forestry Limited continues to strengthen essential infrastructure that supports both its operations and the wellbeing of its host communities.

Major Road Projects Completed

Among its flagship road developments are:

• Onipetesi-Afore Road (23 km) – now fully rehabilitated which provides safer, more reliable movement for residents and agricultural goods
• Leege-Laje Road (28 km) – upgraded to enhance connectivity across rural settlements
• Lisagbede Road (0.3 km) and Karaole Road (0.6 km) – rehabilitated to address critical access challenges within community clusters

These routes, which were once difficult to navigate, particularly during the rainy season, are now accessible with improved mobility for farmers, traders, school children and service providers moving between rural communities and key economic hubs.

These road works are being carried out in collaboration with locally sourced contractors, and for 2026 the company has budgeted nearly 100 kilometres of additional road development as part of its plantation expansion programme benefiting both operational needs and community access.

A Commitment to Sustainable Community Development

Through sustained investment in road infrastructure, Rex Forestry Limited is positioning connectivity as a cornerstone of inclusive development rather than a supporting operational requirement.

Speaking on the development, Mr. Vincent Servais, Managing Director of Rex Forestry Limited, emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to community-focused infrastructure:

“Our operations are deeply interconnected with the communities around us. Investing in resilient road infrastructure is not only about supporting our activities, but also about ensuring that host communities benefit from improved access, safer mobility and stronger economic linkages. Sustainable forestry must go hand in hand with sustainable community development.”

As Nigeria continues its efforts to reduce rural infrastructure deficits, private sector operators within concession zones are playing an increasingly vital role in closing development gaps. For Rex Forestry Limited, road construction is more than a logistical necessity; it is an investment in broader access to markets, essential services, education and economic opportunities. In communities once constrained by seasonal isolation, enhanced road networks are redefining the pace and potential of local development.
