One of Nigeria’s fastest-growing travel management company, Peacock Travels and Tours, a subsidiary of the Peacock Group, has taken another bold initiative in the nation’s travel industry by rewarding its trade partners for their patronage in 2015.

This came just as the international travel firm opened a new office in Kano, the commercial nerve centre of the North.

By the opening of the office, the company said it was taking total travel solution to the North.

“This office will take care of Hajj operations, Umrah/lesser Hajj and other travel needs of the prospective travelers in the Northern region.”

The office is located at 2B, Niger Street, Gidangoldi, Kano.

The mega awards programme, held in Lagos, had in attendance top officials of key international airlines operating in Nigeria with eight airlines partnering Peacock Travels and Tours to donate 10 free return tickets to some lucky winners.

The 10 free return tickets were donated by United Airlines, Delta Airlines (2),Virgin Atlantic Airways, Qatar Airways (2), Arik Air (2), Kenya Airways and Emirates Airlines.

Over 150 sub-agents won various prizes ranging from deep freezer, LCD television, laptop to gas cooker and toaster machine.

The award was classified into Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze categories.

Six sub agents, which had ticket improved ticket sales figure in 2015, won in the Platinum Category.

25 agents won various prizes in the Diamond Category; 35 agents won in the Gold category; 34 won in the Silver category, while 50 won in the bronze category.

In the Platinum Category, the first Grand Prize of deep freezer was won by Up and Down Travels. The prize was collected by Alhaji Ibrahim M. Inuwa on behalf of the agency. The second Platinum Grand Prize saw a representative Ayo Travels and Tours, Mrs. Itunu Ayintete going home with one LCD television. The third Platinum Prize of a grand gas cooker was won by Bosmor Travel and Tour represented by Mr. Enoch Adeloye, while the fourth grand Platinum prize of a laptop was won by Itineraries Travels represented by Mrs. Adesida Adedolapo.

Other winners in the platinum class are Jalotred Travels and Greenspeed Travels.

The Group Executive Chairman, Peacock Group, Aare Segun Phillips, in his opening address, said the annual awards programme currently in its second edition, was meant to reward its trade partners for their patronage, loyalty and commitment during the year 2015.

Phillips, shortly after handing over the gifts and complementary tickets to the various winners, assured the sub-agents that the annual awards ceremony would continue to be an annual event.

The travel business guru enjoined the sub-agents to be more hardworking and continue their patronage of the Peacock Group, while assuring them that hat their efforts would be abundantly, commensurately and consistently rewarded from at regular intervals.

Phillips said, “Sales and productivity are key to the game. Be part of the Peacock Group and make sure you don’t go out. Continue your commitment to us, and you can be sure that you will continually be rewarded by us. You can be sure none of your efforts will go in vain.

“The door is however is still open to new agents to come in to join the Peacock Group. Those who want to start their agency can also join.”

According to Aare, the 2016 awards ceremony slated for next year will include the corporate world and key government agencies.

The travel business icon hinted that the next year edition would be an expanded programme which will feature beauty pageant and fashion show among others.

He said the Peacock Travels and Tours and its United Kingdom subsidiary would continue to take bold steps to blaze the tray in the global travel management industry.
