My Dear Abimbola,

I celebrate you as you commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of your birth for a life that has been well lived, especially in the service of God and humanity.

On this diamond anniversary, it is fitting to acknowledge how like a diamond you have sparkled and lit up many lives, including mine and our children.

Beyond us, the spark of your existence has ignited many other lives from far and near.

Like the diamond, you are valued, treasured, and much sought after.

Most especially, you wear value and humility with ease.

Above all, like the diamond, you possess an inner strength that has been a rock for all of us.

I pray for many more years of a very healthy and fulfilled life for you.

With all my love.

My dearest sister, friend and my personal First Lady,

It’s been a real pleasure to know you for the past thirty five years of being married to your cousin. Your forthrightness, loving, welcoming and humble nature has remained unchanged as I watched you walk through different seasons. As you celebrate your sixtieth birthday, I wish you God’s goodness, grace, mercy, perfect health and abundance of joy. As you selflessly care for others, may the care and love of God never cease in your life. May all that brings you joy, never become a source of sorrow. You will see your children’s children and may generations yet unborn call you blessed. Happy birthday my darling sister.

Love you lots always

Ibukun Awosika

Bimbo and I are cousins from the Great Ojo Ibadan family in Oje, Ibadan. We basically grew up together with our houses across the street from each other in Ebute Metta, Lagos. Growing up, Bimbo was not only an elder sister figure to her siblings, Toun, Bola and Kunle, she was also a very responsible reliable and dependable mother figure to them, this was because mama Aladura (Bimbo’s mother) does not joke with attending her Roman Catholic church activities and often times leaves Bimbo to be in charge of the house ensuring that her siblings eat and are well behaved. I don’t know how she does it, but it was always very obvious that she was in charge. Bimbo is also a very caring and loving woman and I have never seen her provide preferential treatment to her own children over other children in her care. She treats everyone the same, this is a very rare gift. I wish Abimbola a very happy birthday with numerous blessings from God. May the Lord answer all your prayers for your husband, children, Lagos state and Nigeria in Jesus mighty name.

Your favourite cousin

Happy birthday to Dame Abimbola Emmanuella Fashola. A compassionate, kind, exceptional, amazing and humorous person.

Welcome to the sixth floor. I thank God for 60 remarkable years of grace.

Age is merely the number of years I have had the joy of knowing you, and I am grateful for the bond we share.

We did not meet by accident, we crossed path, for a lifetime of sisterly friendship. I thank you for your love, support, travelling adventures, humour, and memories that we share.

You are a special person who means so much to me and to everyone else who has had the privilege of knowing you.

Maami, as I fondly call you (because of your motherly attribute) May you look back and see that you have lived an amazing life and touched so many with your kindness and thoughtfulness.

Over the years, you have remained true to yourself, never changing, no matter where God took you. Your accessibility and ever ready to help and support your friends and family is next to none.

On this special day, I pray that God will continue to bless you with long life, good health, peace, joy, favour, and strength.

As you advance towards the next decade, may every day of your life be a day of thanksgiving.

I love and appreciate you.

May your day be as special as you are and be filled with joyful memories.

Sixty years ago, the world was blessed with a truly remarkable soul, and for over forty of those years, I have had the honour and privilege of calling her my best friend. Today, as we celebrate this milestone in her life, I find myself reflecting on the extraordinary person that Bimbo is—someone who embodies kindness, loyalty, and an unwavering sense of self.

To know Bimbo is to know warmth, sincerity, and a heart that beats for others. She is the kind of person who never wears a mask, always true to herself and those around her. In a world where people often change to fit circumstances, she remains a beacon of authenticity. Her unwavering integrity and steadfast spirit have been a source of inspiration to all who have crossed her path.

One of Bimbo’s most remarkable qualities is her ability to bring people together. She has always been the glue that binds friendships, families, and communities. Whether it is through her infectious laughter, her wise counsel, or her simple presence that fills a room with love, she ensures that those around her never feel alone. She has built bridges where there were once divides, fostered unity where there was discord, and strengthened bonds that might have otherwise faded with time.

Through life’s triumphs and trials, Bimbo has been a pillar of strength—not just for me, but for everyone privileged enough to be in her circle. She has celebrated our joys as though they were her own and stood beside us in our moments of sorrow with unwavering support. Her kindness is not performative; it is genuine and deep-rooted, woven into the very fabric of who she is.

Sixty years is a milestone that speaks of wisdom, experience, and a life well-lived. For Bimbo, it is also a testament to the impact she has had on the countless lives she has touched. As I celebrate her today, I do so with immense gratitude—for her love, her friendship, and the countless ways she has enriched my family’s lives. I offer a heartfelt toast to a woman whose spirit shines brightly, whose laughter is contagious, and whose love knows no bounds.

Abimbs, you are more than a friend; you are a sister, a confidante, and a gift to all who know you. May this new chapter bring you as much joy as you have given to others. Happy 60th birthday!

I want to give glory to Almighty God for giving my dear sister and girlfriend of my boss and brother the grace of this diamond birthday anniversary.

Dame Abimbola from the onset of my first meeting as incoming First Lady in 2006 won my heart with her simplicity, humility and genuineness. Overtime, I discovered a mother, friend, confidant, love, laughter in her and most importantly a lover of God. There are not enough words to describe her but just to say she is beautiful in and out. She loves people to a fault and accommodates the young, old, elderly with pure joy. I have learnt greater virtues and values from my relationship with her which has made me better than I was.

Through her NGO, she has impacted thousands of lives. This she does quietly and diligently. You cannot be around her and be sad because she infects you with her joy, humour and happiness.

I want to appreciate you for accepting me from our first meeting as a big sister into your loving family. As you mark this milestone, you will mark many more in good health and happiness. As you water other people, Almighty God will water you and your family. You will have reasons to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God. Grow in grace, wisdom, understanding and the presence of Jehovah will abide with you always.

On behalf of my husband and children, we say congratulations and appreciate your love. Happy diamond birthday my dearest sister and excellent big mummy.

Today, I celebrate not just the 60th birthday of a remarkable woman, but the grace, strength, and purpose that Dame Abimbola Fashola has carried so effortlessly throughout the decades of her impactful life.

To know Abimbola is to encounter a rare blend of elegance and humility, quiet strength and unwavering faith, intellect and compassion. She wears her many roles as wife, mother, friend, stateswoman, and humanitarian with dignity and selflessness. It has been one of the blessings of my life to walk beside her as a friend, and to witness first-hand the depth of her kindness and the breadth of her vision.

As First Lady of Lagos State, she redefined what it meant to serve. She turned platforms into purpose and influence into impact, whether advocating for women’s health, championing education, or empowering the youth through her LEARN initiative. In every space she occupies, she brings light, grace, and substance. She listens with empathy, leads with wisdom, and loves with a heart so large it embraces all.

But beyond the public figure is the woman I have come to cherish deeply: thoughtful in friendship, steadfast in values, and richly grounded in faith. Through life’s ebbs and flows, she has remained anchored in integrity, modesty, and service. Qualities that make her not just a beacon to women, but a blessing to all who know her.

At 60, she stands tall as a matriarch of substance and style; a woman who has nurtured generations and inspired many more. Her story is a testament to the power of a life lived intentionally and generously. She has not only walked in purpose but lit the way for others to follow.

Our dearest Dame, as you mark this beautiful milestone, may the next chapter of your life be filled with divine peace, radiant joy, and continued fulfillment.

May your days be surrounded by love, laughter, and the comforting assurance that your legacy is deeply etched in the hearts of many, including mine.

Happy 60th Birthday, my darling sister and friend. The world is better because you are in it.

With all my love,

Agnes Adetoun Ajomale

Happy 60th birthday to an amazing Amazon that I am privileged to call a friend and sister!

Dame, Big Mummy, Bfash or HE (as she’s fondly called) is “over humble” – her humility and simplicity is astonishing and has endeared her to all and sundry.

She is someone I admire a lot – friendly, jovial and outspoken, she says it as it is. Plus she doesn’t suffer fools gladly! Bimbo’s kindness, generosity, and charitable work has touched countless lives! Her pet project L.E.A.R.N which started when she was the First Lady of Lagos State is still going strong over 10 years since she left office. A testimony to her dedication to whatever she lays her hands to do.

I haven’t even touched on her walk with God and support of various ministries.

Congratulations! Many Happy Returns! Here’s wishing you the very best birthday ever. God bless you today and always.

Much love

Of rarest kindness and proven humility…

My very own good mother, Her Excellency, Dame Abimbola Fashola, words can hardly template your virtuous deeds. But let this few of mine be found true, of the rare breed you are, mother!

I am a living testimony of your labour of love to humanity and those of the household of faith. A voice of encouragement to my family in time of deepest needs. Your commitment to my music ministry is unwavering; the several journeys from Lagos to Ibadan to grace the TURN IT UP WITH BIG B Concert live, the patience you constantly exercise, your humble demeanour, and characteristic generosity to my team over the years. What about referrals? You are a guardian angel in my strides towards destiny.

I am grateful for the gift of you-mother, who you are and all you have done for me. From my heart, I pray that the good Lord causes His grace and power to abound towards you. Eleven years ago, I was a bright eyed 11 year old girl, who believed that any one at any age could make a difference, if they believed in their journey and worked hard towards a simple goal. This was swimming in a sea where many thought young people, especially young girls need to focus on things their age or just school and homework. But I knew there were people out there who thought otherwise. One of such persons was Dame Abimbola Fashola, whom I first met when she agreed to speak at my First Lady’s colloquy at the Eko signature hotel in Lagos. A year later, now aged 12, she was right there again, supporting my new girl’s education initiative, and signing onto it at the State House in Lagos. Ten years later, she still makes time for me at every opportunity. As a woman, she embodies grace, class, humility, and sheer compassion, and she is a firm believer in the wellbeing of all, especially girls.

Many happy returns to my absolutely coolest big aunty, and happy 60th birthday!

13 years ago when I started the Inspiring Woman Series conference, I knew exactly what I needed to do and God helped me follow through. One of the women who encouraged me was Dame Abimbola Fashola. I remember meeting her and asking her to come and speak at the second edition. Without knowing me from “Jump Street”, she accepted. I was shocked she did. She was a First Lady with no airs. Everybody felt the same. I remember at that particular edition, anytime I saw her anywhere before the event and I asked her to be reassured she would come, she would smile and say she promised to show up and she would. And she did exactly that. From then till date, Mummy Fashola has solidly been in my corner. Be it my birthday, or whenever I need encouragement, or even at other editions of the conference, Mummy Fashola always shows up for me. She would stay till the very end. Anywhere we meet, it is always a refreshing experience, most recently in Dubai. Mummy Fashola is my vibe! Filled with positivity! When I had to have a thanksgiving, she was there right by my side. When I lost my parents, she was there too. Your heart is beautiful and it radiates in all you do. Thank you for always showing up for me…emphasis on ALWAYS! Thank you for your care and advice. Your generosity is innate. Your heart for service is admirable. I love you mummy Fashola and you mean the world to me. As you turn 60, may God’s peace rest upon your heart, may His protection surround you and His joy forever be your portion. Happy 60th our own Mother Teresa!
