Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the full implementation and payment of workers’ promotions and associated benefits, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to civil service welfare.

The governor made the announcement while receiving the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Adamawa State chapter, during a courtesy visit at Government House in Yola.

Fintiri commended the cordial relationship between organised labour and his administration, noting that the achievements recorded so far are largely due to strong collaboration between both parties.

He described the decision to implement workers’ entitlements as timely, particularly as civil servants prepare to celebrate the upcoming International Workers’ Day.

The governor also reiterated his commitment to ensuring that future elections in the state are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, free from undue interference. He stressed that the responsibility of choosing credible leaders ultimately rests with the people, and called for sustained civic engagement ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

Expressing concern over recent security challenges, Fintiri condemned attacks on communities in Hong and Gombi Local Government Areas, describing the loss of lives as deeply troubling and citing incidents in which dozens of citizens were killed within a short period.

“To lose about 30 citizens in a single day and nearly 50 within a week is profoundly disheartening,” the governor said, pledging decisive action to address the situation.

He disclosed that the state government would strengthen collaboration with security agencies, including the military, while also empowering local vigilante groups to restore peace and normalcy in affected communities.

Earlier, Emmanuel Fashe, Adamawa State Chairman of the NLC, extended condolences to the government and the families affected by the attacks in Hong and Gombi. He stated that organised labour stands in solidarity with the state during this challenging period.

Fashe described the visit as a demonstration of support and reaffirmed workers’ commitment to the administration, noting that the government has maintained a worker-friendly posture, including the inclusion of labour representatives in key positions.

He urged the governor to sustain the progress made and ensure continuity by supporting a successor who prioritises workers’ welfare. Fashe also commended the administration’s consistent engagement with labour unions and formally invited the governor to attend the forthcoming Workers’ Day celebration.
