Aisha Ahman-Pategi, a former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs in Kwara State, has formally declared her intention to contest the governorship under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In her declaration speech, Ahman-Pategi stated that the moment was defined by destiny, “where courage meets purpose and the voice of the people rises above fear”.
A vision for inclusive prosperity
The gubernatorial hopeful described herself as a daughter of Kwara and a servant of the people who understands the aspirations of the citizenry. She pledged to pursue policies designed to empower citizens through financial inclusion, education, and expanded economic opportunities.
Ahman-Pategi aligned her legislative and executive agenda with the “Renewed Hope” vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which she noted focuses on economic growth, national development, and inclusive prosperity. She further commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for laying the foundations for growth, stability, and governance in the state.
Priorities for industrial and agricultural growth
Outlining her administrative priorities, Ahman-Pategi promised to focus on economic empowerment, job creation, and innovation if elected. Her agenda also encompasses agricultural and industrial growth, energy, infrastructure, and inclusive governance.
Benjamin Yisa, the chairman of the occasion and former speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, remarked that Ahman-Pategi’s entry into the race marks a significant milestone. He expressed confidence in her capacity to become the state’s first female governor, describing her as an intelligent and capable leader whose experience would benefit the state.
Courage in leadership
Also speaking at the event, Jerry Kolo, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Communication, commended the aspirant’s courage in declaring her ambition to govern Kwara State.
