The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has debunked a purported result slip circulating online, which claims that a candidate scored 396 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing it as entirely fake.
Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesperson, made this known in a post shared on his official X handle, expressing concern that such a fabricated document was being widely circulated, even among well-informed Nigerians.
According to him, the result slip in question was generated using a fake template, stressing that the board’s official UTME results are currently “view-only” and not issued in the format being shared online.
“Firstly, the Board has clearly stated that UTME results are view-only. The circulated document appears on a fabricated result template, which on its own is sufficient indication that it is not authentic,” he stated.

Benjamin further pointed out discrepancies in the registration number displayed on the fake slip, noting that JAMB registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern “20269” as seen in the circulated result.
He added that there are several other inconsistencies in the document that clearly expose it as fraudulent at first glance.
The Board, therefore, urged members of the public to disregard the fake result and rely solely on official JAMB channels for accurate information regarding UTME results.
“All results at the moment are view-only,” he reiterated.
The clarification comes after the conduct of the 2026 UTME, which commenced nationwide on Thursday, April 16. JAMB had earlier disclosed that over 2.2 million candidates are expected to sit for the examination.
Specifically, a total of 2,243,816 candidates registered for this year’s exercise, which was held from April 16 to April 22 across various accredited centres in the country.
JAMB reassured candidates and stakeholders of its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process, warning against the spread of misinformation capable of misleading the public.
