Lagos State Deputy Governor, D Obafemi Hamzat, has intensified consultations and engagements with key political stakeholders in  the state ahead of All Progressive Congress (APC) 2027 Gubernatorial  primary election.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hamzat’s latest round of visits included those to the state’s Governance Advisory Council (GAC) members and elders in APC, on Tuesday.

He also visited Chief Muraina Akanbi Taiwo and Sen. Idiat Adebule (Lagos West).

Hamzat also met with Chief Oluwamuyiwa Sosanya, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, Chief Reuben Basorun, and Prince Biodun Ogunleye, according his posts on X.

“Building on earlier engagements, our discussions remained honest and forward-looking, focusing on the future of Lagos.

“I am grateful for their insights and commitment to the progress of Lagos as we focus on the path ahead,” Hamzat posted on X.

The deputy governor said he visited Alhaji Femi Okunnu and a former Deputy Governor of Lagos, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, now an aide to President Bola Tinubu, on Monday.

He said that their insights provided depth to discussions about the future of Lagos State.

He said he had also met with the Apase of Epe Land and GAC member, Alhaji Shakiru Seriki, who also offered useful perspectives.

“These continued engagements are vital for listening and staying connected to the people we serve,” Hamzat said.

The deputy governor had met with a former Governor of the state, Mr Babatunde Fashola, and Mrs Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, a former Lagos State APC Women Leader.

“These engagements continue to shape the work ahead as we stay focused on delivering for the people,” he posted on X.

Other prominent figures involved in the consultations include Sen. Wasiu Eshinlokun (Lagos Central).

The deputy governor began the series of political engagements on April 13, with a session involving GAC chieftains and other influential stakeholders during a visit to elder statesman and GAC Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, in Lagos.
