Jerry Egemba, a Lawyer and commissioner for Industries, Mines and Solid Minerals in Imo State, says that the Government has moved aggressively to recover all the industrial layouts illegally acquired and sold by individuals and communities for residential purposes.

The Imo State Government, which renews its industrialisation drive as part of efforts to boost economy and create jobs opportunities, targets urgent recovery of all the industrial layouts illegally acquired and sold by individuals and communities for residential purposes in Naze Owerri North Local Government Area and all the environs.

The Commissioner revealed further that necessary measures had been put in place to flush out criminals and hoodlums who hibernate in bushes and uncompleted structures in such areas.

“We want to recover all industrial areas acquired illegally or sold by communities, use them for the very purpose they are meant because frequent encroachment, illegal acquisition and selling of these areas have thrown a spanner in the wheel of progress of our industrialisation”, he said.

Egemba said that the State Government is anxiously searching for interested investors, who have the technical know-how to partner with it to harness the abundant mineral resources in the State that are in commercial quantities such as clay, limestone and gravel.

“We collaborate with the Federal Government in this regard which issues license for this”, he said.

He further stated that the on-going renovation of the Imo Concorde Hotel, Owerri, would be consummated in no distant time, to return to the hospitality edifice to its premier position for comfort and relaxation of members of the public.

He commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for his road infrastructural revolution, which he noted, had earned him the name “Infrastructural Governor” in the Country.
