The governorship ambition of Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, gathered momentum Wednesday as he intensified consultations with key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State ahead of the party’s 2027 primaries.
A statement by his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, said Jandor met with the Chairman of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Tajudeen Olusi, alongside other influential members of the apex decision-making body in the state. The visit forms part of a broader strategy by the aspirant to consolidate support across critical blocs within the party.
During the consultation drive, he also held separate meetings with GAC member James Omolaja Odumbaku, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Sabit Adeyemi Ikuforiji, and party chieftain Monsuru Owolabi Batola.
The engagements, according to his campaign team, are part of a deliberate effort to build consensus and strengthen internal alignment within the Lagos APC ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship race.
Jandor’s outreach reflects a dual-track consultation model that seeks to combine grassroots mobilisation with high-level political engagement. Sources close to the aspirant say he has directed leaders within his political structure across the state’s 377 wards and over 13,000 polling units to begin mobilising party members in support of his ambition.
Speaking during the visits, Jandor reaffirmed his respect for the GAC, describing it as a stabilising force in Lagos politics whose guidance remains critical to sustaining unity and continuity within the APC. He also pledged loyalty to the party’s leadership and readiness to work with all stakeholders in line with its direction.
Political observers say the consultations signal an early push by the aspirant to position himself within the party’s power structure, where endorsement and acceptance by influential leaders often play a decisive role in determining the outcome of primaries.
With the race for the Lagos governorship ticket gradually taking shape, Jandor moves underscore growing political activity within the APC as aspirants begin to test alliances, build networks, and consolidate support ahead of the 2027 election.
