The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has disclosed that a total of 1,714 pilgrims from the state will participate in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, the Board’s Secretary, made this known in a statement on Thursday explained that preparations are in top gear to ensure a hitch-free exercise, with arrangements in place for the timely airlift of all intending pilgrims.
According to him, visas are ready, accommodation in Saudi Arabia has been secured, while bags and other Hajj materials have been provided. He added that the Board will begin disbursement of Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) to intending pilgrims next week.
Abdulkadir further stated that the National Hajj Commission has fixed May 3 for the inaugural flight nationwide, while Kwara pilgrims will be airlifted in three batches on May 6, May 7, and May 9 via Max Air.
He advised all intending pilgrims to keep their Permit Access Cards safe.
The Board’s scribe also announced that an enlightenment programme for pilgrims will hold on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., to be presided over by the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulhamid.
Similarly, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, the Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, will address pilgrims during a second enlightenment programme scheduled for April 26, 2026.
He urged all intending pilgrims to attend both programmes promptly, noting that Hajj rules and guidelines will be extensively discussed.
Abdulkadir also disclosed that the 2026 Hajj fare for Kwara State, as approved by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Abuja, is N7,750,000.
He added that pilgrims who earlier paid N8,500,000, as previously announced by the Board, should report for a refund immediately with proof of payment.
He emphasised that refunds will only be made to the rightful owners whose names appear on the original receipts, and not to third parties.
