The Plateau State Government has further relaxed the curfew imposed on Jos North Local Government Area following improvements in the security situation across the area and its environs.

BusinessDay recalled that the curfew was initially imposed following a deadly Palm Sunday night attack in Jos North that claimed at least 28 lives and heightened security tensions. It was later reviewed and relaxed twice as normalcy gradually returned to the area.

The latest decision, announced on Wednesday by Joyce Ramnap, the commissioner for information and communication in a statement made available to Journalist in Jos said the decision was taken in consultation with security agencies after a review of the prevailing conditions.

“In view of satisfactory improvement on the security situation in Jos North LGA and environs, the Plateau State Government, in consultation with security agencies, wishes to further relax the curfew imposed in the wake of recent disturbances,” the statement said.

“Consequently, as from Wednesday, 15th April 2026, curfew hours will be between 7 p.m. to 5 a.m”; it added.

The government advised residents of the affected area to strictly comply with the revised curfew hours, as authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure sustained peace and order.

The government also commended citizens for their cooperation in restoring calm and urged them to remain vigilant by reporting any suspicious activities to security agencies while efforts continue to achieve full normalcy across Jos North and Plateau State.
