…Says Lagos-Calabar Coastal and Sokoto-Badagry Highways are game changers that will boost real estate on those corridors
Victor Alonge, president and chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has promised that the over eleven million strong members of the institute will continue to partner with the government and critical stakeholders for the economic development of the country.
Alonge gave the assurance, Tuesday during a press conference to brief Journalists on the 56th annual conference and annual general meeting of NIESV, which kicked off on Monday, April 13, 2026, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
He said that the theme of this year’s annual conference titled”Corridores of connectivity and capital:Rethinking real estate development along renewed hope infrastructure investment” restates and re-emphasizes that real estate is a key catalyst at growth and development.
According to him, the theme is a call to strategically drive and stimulate real estate development, create wealth attract foreign investment and generate. employment, through the corridore-focused infrastructure (roads, and highways rails and ports) to enhance. connectivity to link people goods and services together in a more efficient manner and thereby reduce risk,making the economy friendly and conducive to capital flow and investment opportunities.
He said that this strategic and innovative approach will stimulate real estate development and ultimately re- engineer Nigeria’s economy on the path of sustainable development.
This as he noted that the 2026 annual conference of NIESV was strategically designed to transcend the accustomed trajectory to identify and explore grounds for the real estate industry’s transformation opportunities to thrive maximally and make the government to realise more than before that government-led infrastructure programmes and investments, would reshape development priorities.
He further stated that the theme relates to a more inclusive real estate investment and development achievable, through infrastructure development along transportation corridors and routes, the type that links the city State or country’s nexus from the periphery to the centre.
Alonge, praised President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, which according to him, has given infrastructure development a priority.
He noted that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Sokoto-Badagry Highway for example are game changers, noting that real estate development will spring up along the corridors before long.
In his words, ” The nation needs more of this. The objective of this conference is to give this a push”.
He also commended Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for his strides in infrastructure development across the length and breadth of the State.
He affirmed that the ongoing construction of Abia State Airport is a bold step that will give real estate investment a lift when completed.
The 56th annual conference of the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and valuers will end on Saturday,April 18 with an annual general meeting
