193 arrested as police dismantle black spots across Kano

Kano State Police Command has intensified its offensive against crime, arresting 193 suspects during coordinated raids on identified black spots across the state. The operations, carried out between April 10 and 12, were part of ongoing directives from the inspector-general of police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu. The measures are aimed at strengthening surveillance, boosting patrol visibility and dismantling criminal networks.

​Police authorities said the raids were executed simultaneously across multiple locations under the supervision of Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, Kano commissioner of police. The state’s 11 area commanders led the field operations, which resulted in significant arrests.

​Recovery of weapons and illicit substances

​Items recovered during the exercise included 51 cutlasses, 15 knives, 41 clubs and a range of suspected illicit substances. These comprised 72 rubber solution containers, 69 sachets of pregabalin, 259 tablets of exol and quantities of dried leaves believed to be cannabis.

​The command noted that investigations are continuing, while patrols and monitoring of identified hotspots have been sustained to prevent a resurgence of criminal activity.

Commissioner Bakori commended officers involved in the raids for their professionalism and resilience, attributing part of the success to actionable intelligence provided by residents.

​The police also urged the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security efforts by reporting suspicious activities through emergency lines or the “NPF Rescue Me” mobile application.
