A landlord, identified as Ekong Henry, has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly assaulting his tenant in Abak Local Government Area.

The incident, which occurred on March 31, 2026, has sparked concerns following details of the altercation that left the victim, Rachael, 31, with multiple injuries.

According to Police sources and corroborating reports circulating on social media, the suspect is currently in custody over the alleged attack on the woman.

Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, while confirming the report, said the victim sustained injuries to her head and left arm, with significant blood loss, and was immediately taken to a medical facility for treatment.

According to the victim’s Facebook account, she was at her shop eating noodles from a pot alongside a neighbour and another man when the landlord arrived.

According to her, the suspect reportedly threw away the food, prompting her to confront him.

The situation allegedly escalated into a violent altercation, during which the suspect brought out a sharp object and repeatedly attacked her.

In addition to injuries to her head and arm, the victim also sustained wounds on her thighs.

Police said the matter was formally reported at about 6:45 pm on the day of the incident, after which officers responded promptly, evacuated the victim to hospital, and apprehended the suspect.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

The command condemned the use of violence in resolving disputes and urged residents to seek lawful means of addressing grievances.

The case has continued to generate reactions online, with many calling for justice and improved protection for tenants against abuse.
