Lafarge Africa has proposed a name change of its corporate identity to HBM Nigeria Plc, subject to approval from stakeholders by special resolution.

“The amendment will affect Clause 1 of the Memorandum of the Association of the Company be substituted with the following clause: The name of the Company is HBM Nigeria Plc,” the cement maker said in a filing released on April 9, on the Nigerian Exchange.

This proposal is set to take place at its 67th annual general meeting (AGM) on April 30, 2026, in Lagos.

They said that the Register of Members and Transfer Books will be closed from April 6 to April 10, to update records for dividend payments. Such government matters like audit account approval, dividends declaration, and board election remain paramount to maintaining compliance and transparency.

If approved, this will be the fourth time Lafarge has rebranded, from West Africa Portland Cement Company (WAPCO) to Lafarge WAPCO Nigeria Plc, before adopting its current name on July 9, 2014.

“If approved, dividends will be paid on April 30, 2026, to eligible shareholders,” the company said.
